GPS Vehicle Tracking System Make Sense.

Supposing that you are the fleet manager in a medium to a large company. You could be dealing with a large number of vehicles of all sizes. You could have a system of delivery and service vehicles. You may have pool cars and you could have several company cars for the senior management. That can add up to a considerable value in vehicles so you will want to be able to keep an eye on them. The best way to do that is by using GPS trackers.

High up in the sky – at a height of somewhere around 22,000 kilometers from the surface of the Earth – the satellites of the Global Positioning System (GPS) create a network of known points that can be used as positions for tracking moving points. Originally designed to be a military solution for accurately tracking US submarines, the potential for many other applications soon became apparent.

Consisting of 24 carefully-placed units and travelling around six Earth-centered axis that allows them to effectively cover the entire surface of the planet. Travelling along their allotted paths at a velocity of 14,000 kilometers per hour, the satellites can accurately position any receiver that is tuned to their output signal. Each satellite has a highly accurate atomic clock on board so that it not only knows where it is but can accurately measure the time of flight for pulse signals too. If a receiver is within range of several satellites, then the time of flight for the pulses can pinpoint it with enormous precision.

In short, the GPS offers the ability to locate and track a receiver in real-time and the implications for your vehicle fleet are enormous. You can start to effectively track your fleet and start to get real figures in terms of fuel usage and efficiency, you can calculate the routes that drivers are taking and establish optimum directions for both time and fuel usage. You can also become more efficient with your maintenance regimes and get vehicles in for routine servicing and repairs, and make sure that your delivery drivers are where they are supposed to be

But GPS also offers you the ability to keep an eye on your fleet at all times, and if you do have the misfortune of suffering a vehicle theft, you can track it and pass the details on to the appropriate authority. That fact alone makes having GPS trackers fitted worthwhile, but there’s more too; if you have trackers fitted, you could experience substantial savings on your fleet insurance, since the GPS factor offers a greater level of security.

GPS systems are now simple and reliable to use and can be employed for several very relevant uses to make your fleet more efficient and also more secure. Furthermore, GPS trackers are not expensive to either buy or have fitted. You could get your entire fleet fitted out with the latest tracker systems for much less than you thought, so securing your vehicles has never been simpler.
